![]() I get that the scenery is there to keep you from being bored of looking at a stick figure for two hours, but it is purely for decoration. There were a lot of moments where I got distracted by the scenery and stopped working on the puzzle, but there were an equal amount of moments near the end of the game where I was so laser-focused on the puzzle that I didn't even look at the surroundings. The reason this game is so expensive for a puzzle platformer is because of the gorgeous environment, painstakingly rendered in 3D with no way for you to properly explore it. The last bit of the game was kind of abrupt and the last few puzzles made me wish there was more, but that is made up for by all the "holy crap!" and "aha!" moments I had throughout its short runtime. ![]() The developers get a lot of mileage out of their concept and keep introducing new ideas and items to stretch out possibilities while still adhering to its inherent limitations. The Pedestrian is an extremely beautiful and compelling 2 and a half hours of gameplay, but the good news is that 2 hours and 15 minutes of that are great. ![]() This game is great, but I think you should wait until it is on sale. The music is beautiful too, I honestly can't think of a better puzzle game than this. You just jump from stencils to street signs to blueprints to paper while traffic flows underneath and each puzzle is sharply crafted to make you think (but not punish you for not having an IQ of 150). And the world it exists in is so alive, I realized just how dead every other puzzle game is. The mechanics change, the setting changes, but the game is never just simply hard for the sake of being hard. The game doesn't necessarily get harder, it simply.changes. But each time ended up with a cold unloving screen staring at me in disappointment while I realized that nothing is more pathetic than looking up a walkthrough for a puzzle game.Īnd then enters The Pedestrian which solves this problem. They are all great on their own but each one has a point (different for each player of course) where things are no longer fun and you just feel like an idiot. The universe decided I am not smart enough to handle truly intellectual and brain smashing puzzle games like Stephen's Sausage Roll and The Witness and Baba Is You.
